It wasn’t until I bought my own round dining room table that I began to appreciate how great these tables are – houses tend to be boxes, made of mostly straight lines, introducing a circular shape into the scheme adds some interest and can actually work as a space saver – plus they’re often much better suited to conversations at dinner parties!
The fabulous DS Vorster table that we have for sale today is actually very similar to our own dining room table, which also has a wooden top and metal base, with the only real difference being that ours is an eight seater, so takes up a bit more room. We’ve sanded the top down and resprayed the table legs, but even so there’re still a few signs that the table’s got a bit of age to it – I’d guess that it must date to the late 1960s/early ’70s.
A fabulous example of retro South African furniture design in great condition for its years.
