I have to admit I bought these wine glasses for largely nostalgic reasons (not that they’re not also super classy!) – my folks had these glasses when I was a kid and whenever they were having a dinner party I’d help my mom set the table. Part of my duties was to go and get these glasses, and I’d gently clink them against each other because I loved the sound the crystal made (not to be recommended because I once managed to break two of them in the process!). But as I said they’re also quite beautiful – so not just a silly childhood tale! I think that they were probably produced by French glass makers, Cristal D’Arques, who managed to industrialise the art of crystal glass making, making crystal glassware much more affordable. So while they may not be the fanciest of crystal, they still are made from lead crystal, and still sound so lovely when you clink them together!
Note: One or two of the glasses have very minor fleabite chips which aren’t visible in the photos and are barely visible in real life.
Dimensions: Each glass measures 16cm tall x 6.5cm in diameter
