Looking at this handsome little teapot it could have been made today, or it could easily be a piece of retro Japanese pottery – that’s the secret to a great design! But as it turns out our teapot is a piece of contemporary Japanese design, and would originally have been sold with a matching cup and saucer – new the complete set sells for around R1000, with most Kinto teapots selling for around $50. Kinto were established in 1972 in Shiga, Japan, but only started exporting their products in 2009 – and I’m so glad they did – their products are so beautiful they deserve to be shared!
Note: Our teapot is in overall good condition, but there is the tiniest nick in the glaze on the spout (see photos)
