What do we think these Carlton Ware dishes would have been used for? The oblong dish is described on some sites as a sandwich plate, so maybe they’re for fancy snacks, a sort of high tea for home: petite cucumber sandwiches on the plate, and a selection of madeleines and macaroons on the triangular dish – sounds wonderful!
Note: The makers mark dates these pieces to sometime between 1952 and 1962. Their condition is near mint, especially in light of their age, with the only issue being a slight manufacturing defect in the glaze on the triangular dish
Dimensions: Oval dish – 32.5cm long x 13cm wide x 2cm deep; Triangular dish – 17cm wide x 7cm tall (incl. handle)
