I’ve been pretty tempted to hold onto this set of retro De Luxe cutlery – even Justin’s had his eye on it! It’s not silver plated, but rather stainless steel, and isn’t complete – two of the largest sized knives are awol, as are the largest tablespoons, and there are only three teaspoons remaining, but fortunately it was such a large set to begin with that there’re still more than enough of nearly everything to go around! The only real issue is the teaspoons, and given that most cutlery canteens don’t include teaspoons I don’t really think it’s a major loss. Some of the pieces have been used more than others – the soups spoon still have a nice shine to them, whereas the dessert spoons are a lot more worn – but they’re in decent enough condition, and amajor plus is that they’re still in their original box. But all of that aside, the real reason I bought this set was because of the design of the cutlery – there’s nothing particularly fancy about it, but I happen to really like that pattern! Understated, but with a modern simplicity that means that the set has’t really dated, and isn’t likely to.

Dimensions: The box measures 47cm long x 27cm wide x 7cm deep (6 x dinner forks & 4 x dinner knives;  6 x fish forks & 6 x fish knives; 6 x salad forks & 6 x salad knives; 6 x dessert spoons; 6 x soup bowls; 3 x teaspoons – 49 pieces in total)
