It’s obvious that this Berda toaster has handled a good bit of bread in its day, but it’s still in good working condition, and from the outside at least, is still in decent nick. The inside tells a slightly different story where the metal has tarnished quite badly (presumably from the heat), but if you look past the wear you’ll see that the toaster is actually pretty clean – cleaner I’m sure than a lot of our toasters at home (I’m always too lazy to clear out the crumbs!). Obviously this style of toaster involves a bit of PT because you have to remember to turn your bread over if you want it toasted on both sides (which most of us would!), but on the plus side the design also means that it can fit nice thick slices of bread that might not fit in your standard pop-up toaster, as well as tasty buns and croissants. Nothing like a toasted chelsea bun on a chilly winter’s morning!
