I don’t know much about today’s rather unusual vase. It was sold to me as a piece of Murano glass, which it might well be – aventurine or goldstone is a popular style of glass in Murano, with the inclusion of flecks of metallic quartz giving the glass a wonderful shimmering effect! Today’s vase is a bit more subdued than aventurine glass tends to be, mostly because of the primary colour of the glass, which is quite a pale lilac, but I think the colour complements the unusual shape of the vase beautifully. And aside from being a rather expertly executed piece, it’s also in pretty much mint condition! There are one or two black flecks in the glass that would have happened when the vase was being made, but no actual wear to speak of!
