Art Deco Wedgwood Vase

R160.00

Generally speaking I don’t like to buy anything that’s damaged, but when I spotted the maker’s mark on today’s vase, I thought it was worth taking a gamble on, despite the stains to the base of the vase (see photos). The super simple ribbed design is the work of Keith Day Pearce Murray (1892-1981), a New Zealand-born architect and artist who worked as a designer for Wedgwood in the 1930s and 1940s. Murray is considered one of the most influential designers of the art deco style, with his pieces often selling for hundreds, sometimes even thousands of Pounds! Today’s ribbed vase, which is marked on the base with a printed facsimile of the designer’s signature, dates to the early 1930s, and is finished in a Wedgwood Moonstone glaze.

NB: We’ve tested the vase, and despite the damage it’s still completely water tight

Dimensions: 29cm tall x 11.5cm in diameter
