Art Deco Teapot

R240.00

It’s not often that I come across Portuguese ceramics, and when I do they tend to be far more rustic than today’s art deco teapot, which is quite delicate. Seemingly the shape is a copy of a famous German design, but with today’s pattern being more twee than the original design by Carstens Uffrecht. Most people date the teapot to the 1930s, so even as a ‘reproduction’ – if you can call it that? – it’s still got some proper age to it! And if the date is to be believed then our teapot is in excellent condition for its years, with the only signs of age being some wear to the gold trim -otherwise it’s pretty much mint!

P.S. This same Porcelana de Coimbra teapot is currently for sale on Etsy for a whopping $130 (R1800)!

Dimensions: 13cm tall x 18cm in diameter; 27cm wide from tip of handle to tip of spout
