I’m not often tempted by trophies, as lovely as some of them are, but today’s bowling trophy caught my eye immediately! The quality of the figurine is just spectacular – head and shoulders above most of the trophies that you see, even the vintage ones. Our lady looks to be silver plated, and going on the style of her outfit, I’d say that she dates to the early art deco period – around the 1920’s or early ’30s. The detail in the casting of the figure is outstanding – you can see lovely movement in the flow of her dress, and I’m amazed by the attention that’s been paid to her hair and boots – this is more of a work of art than it is a piece of sports memorabilia!
