1960s BMF/Nagel Candle Holders (Each)

R185.00

We were very lucky to find today’s candle stick holders! Designed by Ceasar Stoffi and Fritz Nagel for Bayerische Metall Fabrik (BMF/Bavarian Metalworking Factory) in the 1960s, these ‘Orion‘ candle holders are super collectible, selling for as much as $100 (R1700) each!  The candle holders were designed to stack one on top of the other, creating the most crazy, articulated sculptural forms. They were also sold with bases and bowls that you could add to your ‘sculpture’, although I’ve never come across any of the Orion accessories before – the candle holders themselves are hard enough to come by in South Africa!

The only downside to what’s otherwise a very cool design, is that the skinny candles are quite hard to find these days, although it looks like you can buy the right type of candle at thecandlemerchant.co.za for not a lot of money. But to tide you over we’re selling our BMF candle holders complete with a box of tapered candles for each candle holder! I think that they could probably take even skinnier candles than the ones that we have, but you could definitely still use our candles, which look really elegant paired with these striking mid-century bases!

P.S. Overall the candle holders are in good condition, but due to their age there are some minor signs of wear (see photos)

Dimensions: Each candle holder measures approx. 10cm in diameter x 6cm tall
