This Schott & Gen glass teapot may look very modern, but in fact it was designed in 1931 by Bauhaus-trained Wilhelm Wagenfeld. They continued to produce these teapots for many years, and apparently you can still buy them today, so I’m not certain how old this particular teapot is, but the design at least is 80-plus years old, and one that’s very well respected, appearing in the collections of numerous design museums. I love the shape of the teapot, which is a bit more refined than the contemporary versions you see for sale today. I particularly like the shape of the handle, which has a bit of a modernist feel to it, in keeping with design ethos of the Bauhaus school of arts.
A great looking teapot in absolutely mint condition! This is one I wouldn’t mind holding onto….
