I had to pry these TG Green mixing bowls out of the hands of the previous owner – well, not literally, but not that far off either! They had belonged to his mother and he really wasn’t very keen to part with them. But I had my heart set on them – when you see as much crockery as I do, it’s very unusual to come across something that you haven’t seen before, and I’ve never seen anything quite like this from TG Green, who are famous for their blue and white Cornishware and their Gripstand mixing bowls. I can’t seem to find anything like these bowls online either, but going on the maker’s mark it looks like they’re were produced sometime during the late 1970s, or thereabout. The bowls are identical to each other, but it looks like the one bowl saw a lot more use than the other – the white glaze has become more of a cream colour from use, and has a fair bit of crazing on the inside, but it’s still in very good nick. These are nice large bowls, so could be used for a variety of purposes – everything from mixing cake batter to serving up a large salad or pasta dish – I’m sure you’ll find some way of showing off these impressive bowls!
