Corning Ware Coffee Percolator – SOLD

1970s Coring Ware coffee percolator

1970s Corning Ware coffee percolator

I love the ‘Friendship’ pattern on this Corning Ware percolator that dates to 1975. The pot is in immaculate condition with no signs of ever having been used. It’s a 10 cup stove-top percolator with a very clever design – most percolator’s have a metal lid that sits inside the pot and stops the coffee grinds going back into the water, whereas the percolator for this pot attaches to the black plastic lid, making it a very tidy design. A mint piece of kitchenalia from an iconic brand.

Kenwood Chef – SOLD

Kenwood Chef Model A701A

Kenwood Chef Model A701A

As with most old Kenwoods, this machine’s been put to good use in its time. Somone’s given it a bit of a naive facelift by re-painting the area where the bowl sits, and the Kenwood badge has somehow been melted on the edge. It’s also missing a blue button on the top surface, which I have to be honest does upset me a wee bit! But I suppose for a machine that’s hitting 40 it’s not in too bad a shape! My boyfriend and I made delicious brownies in it the other day using the famous K hook and it worked like a bomb!

Retro Ashtray – SOLD

Retro ashtray

Retro ashtray

I really like the shape of this ashtray – I don’t think I’ve actually come across an ashtray of this design before. It’s quite a chunk of glass and has a bit of Whitefriars feel to it. This style isn’t for everyone, but if you have the right home it can look super-cool!

Sony Flip Style Clock – SOLD

Sony flip style clock

Sony flip style clock

The alarm function on this Sony Digimatic is sadly no longer working, and the radio only picks up AM, so it’s really only the clock that’s still working. But work it does – I had the clock plugged in for a couple of days and it kept perfect time.  Supposedly this model was manufactured by Sony in 1969 and 1970, and it does have a certain plainness that I associate with electronics from the early ‘70s. I like the fact that it pretty much looks like a plain black box. The manufacturer and model name is starting to wear away, and if it were mine to keep I might be tempted to erase it all together – I think it’d look cleaner without it (apologies to the purists out there!).

1970s Serving Dish – SOLD

1970s serving dish

1970s serving dish

I love the shape of this serving dish, which I can only assume dates to the ‘70s. It doesn’t have a maker’s mark, so I can’t date it properly, but the colour and shape of the bowl just scream ‘70s to me. The roundness of the bowl is so lovely, and I like the way the lid has a flat top that allows you to use it as a second bowl. The dish is in great nick, with the exception of a small chip on the underside of the one handle. It’s a pity that it’s chipped, but given that it’s not visible I don’t think it’s the end of the world. A practical, good looking piece of crockery that you’re sure to get plenty of use out of.
