Art deco chrome and marbe glass light

In case you haven’t picked it up by now, I have a bit of a thing for the art deco period. There’s just something about the geometric lines and considered curves that does it for me, and I particulalry like the lighting from this period. I have the nicest wall mounted deco fitting in my entrance – it’s just plain white with chrome bars, but it looks great. And if I had the space I’d hold onto this beautiful marbled light too. The rod is original, but it’s been re-chromed so is in much better nick than most of the deco lights I see. The rod is also much longer than most of the lights you can buy today, which means you need quite a high ceiling, but it also means that it makes much more of a statement. A great example of art deco design in excellent condition.

1920s Adjusto-lite clamp lamp

I love the industrial look of this 1920s clamp lamp. It has no maker’s mark, but I’m pretty confident that it’s an Adjusto-lite (see the original ad for these lamps under ‘more’). Sady the clamp section is very corroded, but if you’re dedicated and want to spend a wee bit of cash you could easilyhave it re-chromed. The wiring is also very tired looking, but it’s still safe and the light works fine. If you don’t have the right table for this lamp, you can also mount it on a wall – it has a hole in the back of the clamp for it to hang on a screw. A great looking light that I would love to call my own!

Note: Please pay attention to the dimensions below as I think the lamp looks larger in the photos than it actually is

Desk lamp

Sometimes I’m not really certain why I like something- this desk lamp is very similar to a lot of lamps I’ve sold, but  there’s something about it that makes me like it just a wee bit more than the others. Perhaps it’s its rather odd base that has something of a ledge, or the sturdiness of the metal arm, or the fact that the paint still has a bit of shine to it – who knows. There’s the usual wear and tear in the form of scratched paint, but nothing too serious. A nice lamp for your bedside table or work space.

Desk lamp with stationery holder

I don’t think that this desk lamp is particularly old, or the best quality for that matter, but there’s something very appealing about it! I really like the classic ’70s orange of the shade, and the stationery holder definitely adds a bit of interest. The base of the lamp is made from plastic, but it’s in pretty good nick. The shade has a few nicks on the outside (see pics under ‘more’), and the inside is a bit yellowed and marked in places. There’s also a small piece of plastic that’s broken off where the shade joins the arm, but for all the wear and tear, the overall look is still pretty clean. A practical lamp that will add a bit of funk to your work station.

Dimensions: Base – 22cm long x 14cm wide x 10cm high; Shade – 11.5cm in diameter
