Krups Wall-Mounted Scale – SOLD

23 Aug

Krups wall-mounted scale

Krups wall-mounted scale

There’s something very cool about wall-mounted scales! This orange Krups (Germany) version is in excellent condition with lovely rounded edges and a nice clear weight chart in pounds and kilos, which is great when you’re using recipes that give weights in pounds (no need for a conversion chart). I think these scales are so cool that we sought one out for my boyfriend’s new flat – it’s also orange and looks fabulous against the white wall!

Dimensions: 20cm wide x 25cm long x 8.5cm deep

Retro Kitchen Scale – SOLD

7 Jul

Waymaster kitchen scale

Waymaster kitchen scale

This kitchen scale from UK manufacturers Wayscale has a really great retro look to it, and would look factastic in anyones kitchen! For me the two biggest selling features are the colour (isn’t it just lovely?) and the oval tray – so much nicer than the boxy ones you see today. Sadly there is a crack in the scale case, but while it is noticeable I don’t think it detracts too much from the beauty of the scale. This great piece of retro kitchenalia deserves pride of place in someones home.

Dimensions: 20cm high x 15cm wide (excl tray) x 12cm deep

Salter Kitchen Scale – SOLD

Salter kitchen scale

Salter kitchen scale

Salter is a UK brand that started manufacturing scales in the 18th Century and is still going strong today. I’m not 100% certain when this particular kitchen scale was made – according to one website it dates to the ’70s but it could also look a bit ’80s? I bought it for its fantastic blue and black combo and the fact that it has two bowls, which I think might be quite handy in the kitchen.  I tested it out with a packet of pasta and it seems to be working fine. The scale is in very good nick, with the exception of a small area of the black base that’s a bit faded. This cheery scale will definitely brighten up someone’s kitchen!

Dimensions: Each bowl measures 22cm in diameter x 14cm high; Base of scale measures 22cm in diameter x9cm high (bowl holds just over 2 litres)

Enamel Kitchen Scale – SOLD

West German kitchen scale

West German kitchen scale

This kitchen scale has definitely seen better days!! It’s actually identical to a scale I sold back in April, but sadly is not in quite the same condition. But I don’t think the fact that it’s enamel is a bit worn detracts too much from its overall look, plus it’s still a functional item, and probably still better looking than most of the scales you can buy today!

Soehnle wall-mounted kitchen scale

Soehnle wall-mounted kitchen scale

I think that wall-mounted scales can really look great in a kitchen – I recently bought an orange version and am well-chuffed with it! This scale from Soenhle (Germany)  is in perfect nick, it even has the original screws for hanging it up on the wall. The idea is that it hangs on your wall, either neatly tucked away in its box or open for display, and when you’re ready to use it you plop your ingredients into the ‘bowl’ which can then unhook from the scale so that you can toss your ingredients in with the rest of whatever it is you’re baking.

Dimensions: Folded up the scale measures 22cm long x 20cm wide x 8cm deep
