Vintage Bar Heater – SOLD

The Premier Electric Fire heater

The Premier Electric Fire heater

It’s a bit of a guess, but I think that this bar heater must be in the region of 60 years old. I really like the big expanse of metal with the single bar, and the way the heater seems to lie back on its feet. I also think its name is kind of cool – The Premier Electric Fire.  These bar heaters aren’t great at heating large rooms, but are perfect for smaller spaces or under a desk or next to the couch. When I was a kid I spent hours warming my feet on our bar heater – in fact truth be told I used to get great joy from pressing my school shoes up against the bars and seeing the plastic soles mould to the shape of the bars (I promise I’m not a pyromaniac!).

Vintage Enamel Heater

Vintage Enamel Heater

I don’t really know anything about this heater, other than I think it’s quite beautiful! It’s definitely more than a few years old – I’d say at the very latest it dates to the early 1950′s, but that’s based on it’s shape and colour. Looking at the way it’s made I think it might even be older, possibly the ’40s. It really is quite a special piece. The colour is strangely contemporary, and I love its curvaceous shape. It looks like the heating element is made up of coils mounted on a ceramic slab of sorts (how’s that for technical expertise?). All in all a quality piece of design.

Dutch Fan Heater – SOLD

Erres Fan Heater

Erres Fan Heater

This retro fan heater is by Dutch manufacturer’s Erres. Erres were established in the 1920s and claim to be the first company to produce commercial AC radios with built-in speakers! This fan was produced a bit later, looking at the style I’d say sometime in the 1960s, and is in excellent condition considering its age with the only real damage being the deterioration of the material that covers the wires (which is easily replaced) and a small scuff mark on the handle. It’s a great little piece of design, with the most fantastic chrome stand and a very cool control dial!

AEG Heater – SOLD

AEG Heater

AEG Heater

I love everything about this retro fan-heater from AEG! I love it’s mustard yellow finish and its fantastic retro shape – I even love its foot which I think is made from Bakelite. All-in-all it’s in good condition, although the AEG logo has come off partially and the metal is slightly bent at the base of the heater – although I think you’ll only notice this if you’re looking for it. This really is a super-stylish little heater!
