I love the design of this serving dish from Burleigh Ware (England). The strong geometric lines are immediately recognisable as art deco, as is the shape of the dish, which is called Zenith. I like the fact that the lid can be turned upside down to sit flat on a table – I awlays appreciate features like these that show real thought in the design process. Burleigh Ware produced a variety of different patterns in the Zenith shape during the 1930s. Being close to 80 years old, it’s not suprising that the glaze is a little worse for wear, but the dish itself is in very good nick with no chips or serious cracks.
