Cast-Iron Meat Platter – SOLD

Cast-iron meat platter
This is definitely the most unusual meat platter I’ve ever seen – in fact it’s the only one of its type that I’ve come across. It has a registration number on the back, so it looks like it was manufactured en masse at some point in history. There’s been a debate in my house as to what the animal is: everyone seems to think it’s a cow, but I’m opting for a goat – although I suppose beef is more popular than goats’ meat! I’m not entirely sure why (it is a bit odd!), but I really like it. I think it would look very cool on a table for a big Sunday roast. Unfortunately there is a bit of damage – a piece of the metal is misisng on the underside. But it’s not very noticeable at all, in fact I didn’t even realise it was damaged until I started to clean it. Whoever takes this home will definitely have a unique talking point at their next dinner party!
