Coloured Liqueur Glasses

I’m not entirely sure what these glasses are for – they look a bit big for liqueur glasses and I can’t fathom what the raised foot is for (see pic under ‘more’)! Any suggestions? But, I do love them! I think they’re crystal (they have that nice ring to them when you give them a tap), and I think coloured glass is always quite special. The glass is quite fine, so there are a few very minor chips, but nothing that would put you off using them.

They look perfect for sipping creme de menthe on a balmy summer’s day…

I think you’re going to have to bring a bottle over Chris so we can try out this famous creme de menthe!

that little lip has got to be for snacks right? handful of olives or cashews?

Don’t you think the snacks would fall off when you took a sip Em? But maybe you were just meant to drink your cocktail like a lady! Or perhaps it’s a built-in coaster!

I don’t think these are cocktail glasses, I think they’re for serving hors d’oevres. My mom had a similar set that had smaller glass bowls that fitted inside the big ones – the idea was to put crushed ice in the large glass, then put the smaller one on top of the ice and use them to serve things like prawn cocktail. The ice kept the food cold and fresh. Haven’t seen these ones with the lip before but maybe they are also for serving food, rather than drinking cocktails out of!
